Dancing Wu-Li Masters, Artfully

Minolta AF-C, Kodak Gold 200

In the 1990s, physics fascinated me, and I read a few popular books on the topic.  One that I enjoyed most was The Dancing Wu-Li Masters.   It explains modern physics with an emphasis on quantum mechanics using concepts taken from Eastern religions.  I remember being enthralled by how it blended those concepts with physics.   This sculpture reminds me of the book’s cover.  (I have no idea what the title of the sculpture is.)

That fascination with physics has waned.   I’ve watched PBS video clips dedicated to obscure topics in physics, and I get the feeling that the big picture is right in front of our eyes, but we will never be able to grasp it.  It is as if we have put together a jigsaw puzzle with thousands of pieces, and standing back, we see a very clear, well-defined object but have no idea what it is.  Recently, my wife gave me a copy of Lost in Math: How Beauty Leads Physics Astray, and having read some of it,  I think…I would be better off drawing.
