Sulphur Yellow cosmos are intensely yellow-orange annuals that produce blooms for weeks. The flowers are so bright and cheery that they demand attention. I had never heard of them until a few grew from the mixed wildflower seeds I planted in the strips last year. Three plants grew in one of two strips, and over the summer, they died off without reappearing. Being annuals, I never expected to see any again—I was wrong. This plant appeared in June, having made its way from the strip to the yard. While looking closely, I noticed it was loaded with seeds. My usual practice is to leave all seeds for the birds, but in this case, I took about 30 for myself. It seems they are here to stay!
