Countless times, I’ve watched the late afternoon sun stream down on this chair, brightening the room. The leaves of the plant are what caught my eye. Sunlight settles on them, making hard and soft shadows, bringing out their delicate, rib-like pattern. Once small enough to be hidden behind the chair, this peace lily, nurtured by afternoon light, now overgrows the chair, filling the space.
I was testing the metering and AF functions of one of my eight (yes, eight) Maxxum 7000s before selling it. This photo is one of several test images that were destined to be discarded. However, I’m keeping it. I can’t explain why, but to me, it says “home.”
I like that shot too. Very peaceful. I do imagine that leaf tickling the back of my head if I lean back in the chair though. That means the photo works- I put myself in the scene.
It’s interesting how some images make an immediate impression.
