Jackson Pollock’s abstract expressionism and Picasso’s cubism never appealed to me. I suppose they were too austere or seemed lacking in meaning, except that which the viewer supplies. Piet Mondrian’s works, on the other hand, while abstract, offered patterns and colors that make sense to my brain—no idea why.
This design on the Signal House building makes sense to my brain as well. I walked around the area, trying to find a good angle for a complete image, but I never found one. The design is clean, simple, and has a certain math-ish quality. Whatever the basis for its appeal, I like looking at it.
