Stopping by a Stairway on an Autumn Afternoon

Minolta MD Zoom 24-35mm, Tri-X, X-700
Located at the rear of the Carter Center, near the lake, this stairway allows one to descend from the noise of the city to the quiet of the lake.  The bottom of the stairway is covered by a canopy of trees that blocks light as much as sound, offering a cool, tranquil spot to be still, even on hot days.   Looking toward the lake, still hidden by reeds and foliage, the city seems miles away.
I’ve photographed this in color, but it seemed to be a better subject for black and white.
